Sweet Vegan Ribs

Vegan sweet ribs are a delicious and flavorful alternative to traditional meat-based ribs. Made with plant-based ingredients, these ribs are sure to satisfy your cravings. Here's a recipe for vegan sweet ribs:

Ingredients:

For the rib base:

  • 1 block of extra-firm tofu
  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable broth

For the sweet glaze:

  •  your favorite Que Queen's Jammin' Reduced Sugar Sauce flavor, (as your glaze)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the rib base:

    • Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu block into desired rib-shaped pieces.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
    • Gradually add the vegetable broth to the dry ingredients, stirring well until a dough-like consistency is formed.
    • Knead the dough for a few minutes to develop the gluten. Then, divide the dough into rib-sized portions and shape them into individual ribs.
  2. Steam the ribs:

    • Place the shaped rib portions on a steamer tray or a heatproof dish lined with parchment paper.
    • Steam the ribs for about 20 minutes, allowing them to firm up and cook through.
  3. Preheat the oven

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Glaze and bake the ribs:

    • Place the steamed ribs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Brush your favorite Que Queen's Jammin' Reduced Sugar Sauce flavor as a glaze generously onto both sides of the ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
    • Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the glaze caramelizes slightly and the ribs develop a nice crust.
  5. Serve and enjoy:

    • Remove the vegan sweet ribs from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
    • Serve the ribs with additional glaze on the side, allowing guests to drizzle more as desired.
    • These vegan sweet ribs pair well with a variety of sides such as grilled vegetables, coleslaw, or baked beans.

Enjoy the flavors of these plant-based sweet ribs and savor the deliciousness of a vegan barbecue feast!
