Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 12 poppers
Ingredients:
- 6 large jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened (or plant-based option)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or plant-based option)
- 12 thin slices of bacon (or plant-based option)
- 1/4 cup SGT. Hart's or Que Queen's Jammin' Reduced Sugar BBQ Sauce
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or smoked paprika for extra flavor
Instructions:
-
Preheat Oven and Prepare Peppers: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Carefully halve the jalapeños lengthwise and remove the seeds. Tip: Wearing gloves can help avoid chili burn.
-
Mix Filling: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the shredded cheddar cheese and optional garlic powder or smoked paprika. Mix well until the cheeses are fully blended.
-
Fill the Peppers: Spoon the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half, filling them generously.
-
Wrap with Bacon: Wrap each filled jalapeño half with a slice of bacon, ensuring the bacon covers the cheese filling completely. Secure the bacon with a toothpick if needed.
-
Glaze with BBQ Sauce: Arrange the bacon-wrapped jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each popper with SGT. Hart's BBQ Sauce, coating them evenly. Alternatively, add plant-based friendly, Que Queen's Jammin' Reduced Sugar BBQ Sauce to plant-based ranch dressing and make an amazing smoky side dipping sauce.
-
Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the peppers are tender.
-
Serve Hot: Let the poppers cool slightly before serving. They are best enjoyed warm, making them the perfect appetizer for any gathering.
